We at the HR department make sure the team has all the amazing people we need. Unfortunately, sometimes we also need to kick out the free-riders (yk how UST can be), but we believe amazing people love it when they work with amazing people :)
Well, our job is a breeze. With the developers building amazing features, we need to ensure you all in HKUST get to know about them so that your university life is easier. Every now and then, we will also organize different physical and online events to get to know everyone better.
Console.log(“We are too busy to write descriptions, but will try… Our team builds the features you see on your mobile application from scratch using this amazing framework called React Native. We love it!”)
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, they say. Our job is tough: to make sure we create designs in a way such that EVERYONE loves them. But we love to work with diverse people, and try to design cool things so that you all love every single click on the app.
Most of you are wondering why we exist. But we don't use words to describe what we do, instead we build cool tools and let them do the talking. For now, all we can say is keep checking out usthing.xyz and wait for our new releases!
Well, there is no easy way to describe what we do. Let's just say that all the information you see on the app, your grades, timetables, bookings and all that… We are the ones responsible for getting that from our university systems. (We are a pain in the ass for our fellows at ITSC and ISO who need to give us API access)
$$$. Honestly, that's all this one-person role is responsible for. I handle all the inflow and outflow of money, and I am super-good at making pretty Excel sheets (not kidding) 💅.
While everyone else is busy building the applications, we are dedicated to seeing how to make USThing grow, not only in terms of features but also for being more than just an app. We have two philosophies: 1) What's something we would like to have for ourselves in UST? 2) Think differently.
I specialize in getting all resources required by the different departments, and communication with UST and external parties. Between you and me, this isn't a one-person job, maybe I will get a new partner soon…
